Nutritional Therapy
Nutritional therapy uses an evidence-based, scientific approach that aims to optimise individual health and wellness. Nutritional therapists are trained to look at the body as a complex web of multiple organs and systems, understanding how nutrition and lifestyle factors influence body functions. A detailed case analysis is taken from all clients (family and medical history, lifestyle, food diary), seeking to identify underlying imbalances to address the root cause of an individual’s health concerns.
Imbalances may be a result of an interplay of genetic, environmental, dietary, lifestyle and emotional factors – taking all of these factors into account is critical in determining the most optimal approach to restore health. Nutritional therapy can support body systems for improved energy, immune resilience, mental clarity, gut health, hormonal balance and longevity. It is personalised nutrition – not a one-size fits all protocol. I advocate using a “food first” approach which means leading with dietary changes to correct imbalances, while also considering lifestyle, testing and supplements.
Nutritional therapy is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions as well as for those that are simply looking to support and enhance their overall health and wellbeing.
How I use Nutritional Therapy in practice
I will work with you to address the root cause of your imbalances, using a tailored nutrition and lifestyle plan to optimise your health and wellbeing. If you are under the care of a medical professional I am happy to work alongside them to ensure a coordinated and collaborative approach to your health care. Nutrional therapy is complementary medicine and not a substitute for conventional medical advice or diagnosis.
Some conditions that I am able to help with include:
Gut health (bloating, constipation, food intolerances, IBS)
Female hormonal balance (PMS, fertility, pregnancy, menopause)
Prediabetes / diabetes
Adolescent nutrition
Weight management
Autoimmune conditions
Suboptimal energy
Sleep disorders
Immunity
Mental health (low mood, anxiety, depression)
I also see clients who do not have any specific health issues but just want to review their nutrition and food choices to optimise their wellbeing.
