About Me
I love food and I love to cook I believe in using whole, nutrient-dense ingredients to create delicious and healthy dishes which are even better when shared with friends and family. I love to use herbs and spices and interesting ingredients to create robust and flavourful foods. I am not a vegan or vegetarian (although I was for 16 years). Instead, my approach is to eat mostly plant-based foods mixed with a variety of carefully selected (ideally organic) meats and (ideally wild) seafood. I aim to share recipes that are accessible and achievable for the untrained, home cook.
Follow me on Instagram to see what I’ve been cooking recently. I would love your feedback.
My nutrition qualifications I am a fully insured, qualified and registered Nutritional Therapist, having graduated with a Distinction from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London in 2020, after three years of study. I am a member of the British Association of Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and accredited by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). I continue to develop my knowledge base and skills through ongoing training, post-graduate coursework and by staying up to date with the latest scientific research.
My background Prior to my training in nutritional therapy, I worked as a management consultant and investment banker in New York, Melbourne and London for eleven years. I received my undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School. I am American (but have lived overseas for most of my life). I decided to retrain as a nutritional therapist partly due to my main area of academic interest (science/biology) and partly due to some recurrent health issues that my second son had as a toddler. I realised that modern medicine does not always have all of the answers and that changes to diet and lifestyle can often go a long way to help restore balance and address health challenges. I currently live between London and Vero Beach, Florida with my Dutch husband, three children and two cocker spaniels. In my free time I enjoy tennis, yoga, reading, going to the beach and cooking.
